International Yoga Day: Modi performs ‘Vajrasana’ and Farmers Perform ‘shavaasana’

Yoga lovers exercising along with Modi in heavy rain

More than 50,000 people were expected to join the grand International Yoga Day event but heavy rain did not deter excited Yoga lovers and less than 10, 000 people could mange to join the beloved PM Narendra Modi at Ramabai Ambedkar Ground, Lucknow.

Rains in the early hours turned the mats soggy. Students started gathering at the ground before 2 pm in the night and were doing rehersals from last 2 days. They really worked hard to accompany their PM at the ground.

This year Modi lost the opportunity to make the record for Guinness Book of World Records. However, Baba Ramdev might grab the opportunity of setting a new world record of highest number of people performing yoga at one place.

Yoga guru Ramdev today said he has plans to launch 10,000 Patanjali Wellness and Health Centres globally to popularise yoga, this is his another strategy to buildup his The Patanjali Ayurved Limited.

According to the sources, more than 21 crores were spend for buying mats, t-shirts for this gala event and I’m dure sure the datas will never be revealed.

This year’s Yoga Day participants include Patanjali Sansthan, NCC, Dev Sanskriti Sansthan, Art of Living, Brahmakumaris, CRPF and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Apart from this, nearly 80 foreign participants also took part in the event. Most of them are from private sector and there are possibilities that huge amount would have transferred by the government for their personal benefit.

Calling Yoga a zero-cost insurance, PM Modi called for standardisation of yoga and pointed out how the young were captivated by yoga, an age-old tradition propounded by saints and seers. But if he was here to speak this only then for what sake PMs Man ki Baat Radio programme is broadcasted.

The dying and crying farmers on the other hand are also participating on this Yoga day but in different way. Workers of Bharatiya Kisan Union performed ‘shavaasana’ — or the corpse pose — at NH-28 to protest against the killing of farmers in police firing in Mandsaur and for the implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report. They are demanding to implement Swaminathan Committee report in order for the betterment of farmers.
