In the recent weeks with various events over body-shaming of women from leg controversy of Priyanka chopra to short white dress for magazine shoot worn by Deepika Padukone to dangal actress wearing a speedo sitting on a chair for a photo-shoot by Fatima Sana Shaikh. They have all received end number of trolls over choosing what to wear and living life on their own terms. Right now the situation is getting worse for women. As much women want to live the way they want to the more they are told by the men to how to behave in a society.
During a recent panel discussion on channel Mirror Now, the topic was celebrity trolling. One of the panellists- Maulana Yasoob Abbas, a Muslim cleric asked the anchor on the show to wear an underwear to work to prove that she is equal to men. His exact words were, “Underwear pehan karke, aap debate mein aiye. There will be equality between men and women.”
The anchor, Faye D’Souza, give a very expert response and handled the situation quite maturely. She didn’t get all hyper or riled up which the Maulana might have been expecting, but the anchor gave quite an appropriate response.
She said, “Let me tell you, Maulana ji. Aap jaise Maine bahut dekhe hai. I’m not afraid of you, I’m not threatened by you, and most of all, and I’m not rattled by you.”
After all this, the Maulana tried to defend himself but he was completely puzzled and confused by how Faye responded to him. She said that it is our choice what to wear and how to wear it and where to wear it and she sided with all of these actresses for their choices to live the life they want to. She also said that you think that with such cheap comments and thinking you can push women back into their kitchens and dressed them then you are wrong. She said that this channel is run by a women and hence she stands for all women.
The anchor completely gave it to him and prove that women are no less than anyone. Showed to the world that however much men try to dominate the women, women will not cave in to the ways of the man. It’s high time men should accept that this new wave of females will stop at nothing for their freedom.
