More than 15 days have passed since the new academic session in Delhi University started and the entire Campus has started being plastered with the posters of the prospective candidates of the upcoming students’ union elections. In contrast to these posters devoid of any student issues the walls of the campus today witnessed refreshing wall writings saying loud ‘Bleed without Fear’. Hundreds of sanitary pads were pasted outside various colleges with the slogan ‘Bleed without fear’.
This large scale propaganda marked the intensification of SFI’s campaign for ensuring Sanitary Pad Vending Machines in colleges. In the first phase, the social media campaign generated wide support from students and youth. The second phase involves intensive ground level campaign in colleges where signature campaign has been initiated with the demand of installing sanitary pad vending machine. This campaign is generating great enthusiasm among the students in the campus. Hundreds of students have signed up as volunteers for the campaign in the last one week.
SFI will continue to carry forward the campaign in new and creative forms to involve widest sections. It is the beginning of our part in the larger struggle against misogyny, sexism and patriarchy. The experience of the last one month shows that this campaign will gain strength from strength and will go on to play a decisive role in smashing the citadels of patriarchy in Delhi University.
