Somewhere in Madhubani district, a bride’s family was compelled to give a bulky money just before few days left in marriage. The demanding family also said, they will cancel marriage if they don’t get money on time.
The scene in the story so far is generally common, which happens in society. But what the girl’s family did, that’s not common in our society called conventional culture.
First, they gave money as per the demand of bridegroom’s family but on the day of marriage when bridegroom’s relative (barati) came and marriage gets started, bridegroom’s relative were not given any kinds of food. Girl’s family member went to bridegroom’s relative and they told them entire incident. They ended with a remarkable sentence “we have paid enough to your family for this marriage and we haven’t promised for food, so don’t expect anything from our side”. Most of the people in bridegroom’s relative were unknown of the demand of bridegroom’s father. Once they knew they started insulting him. bridegroom’s father realized his mistake and asked for a sorry, but nothing worked. Marriage happened but all the relative had to go in the night itself they were not given a single piece of food.
