Sleeping at dawn for students and working till dawn for employed individuals results out to hunger, the hunger for food which is easily available and probably cheap too. There are very few places in South Delhi which sells good and heavy food in such late hours of the night. Thus Swiggy, Zomato and Foodpanda goes to sleep by 12.30am. Okhla Sabzi Mandi is a huge market of vegetables which is under DDA,it remains open through out the day. It’s just that vegetables are sold till 11pm in the night. After that it becomes storage of vegetables and trespassers loitering around for food and business.
There are around seven food stalls inside the shady market, where food is available from 9pm to 4am. Residents and students from the nearby localities, people traveling through Delhi and workers/labourers after their work gathers and keeps the place alive during midnight. There’s a variety of Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food available here. Some of the food stalls have been doing business here for more than 20years.
The nearest metro station from the market is Govindpuri Metro in the Violet line, whereas cabs are available all night and it’s just situated in Okhla and falls on the right while going towards Nizamuddin.
