My weight Loss Journey

When I touched 90kg by the end of my engineering in 2014, I realized that it is high time to do something. So, the first thing that came into my mind was the term ‘Dieting’. And like every other person I associated this term with ‘Weight Loss’ and ‘Not Eat’. So, I started this unhealthiest way of weight loss without a proper plan. After two years of yo-yo diets and workouts I realized that I needed well guided plan. Then in November 2016, I came across the HealthifyMe app on Google Play while searching for some weight loss magic tricks online. My diet coach, Sameera, introduced me to grilled food with no/ very less oil and boiled food with some seasoning. Since then there has been no looking back. A customised workout plan with cardio and weight training was provided to me and monitored constantly.

I have now lost 10kgs and continue to monitor a strict diet including oats, Egg whites, Daliya, Wheat flakes, Tandoori chicken, Paneer tikka, Curd, Sprouts subzi, Chhole subzi and salad and indulge in cheat meals once a month.

My fitness secret is ‘Eat healthy. Exercise. Sleep well. Drink 3-4 l of water a day’ and stay motivated by seeing the weight curve go down at a steady pace. I kept questioning myself that if I stop at this point, would I go back to where I started? Would all this hard work go to waste? This is what ensured that I don’t lose focus.

Through my weight loss journey, I have learned that active lifestyle changes are a must for fitness. Be early to bed and early to rise; never skip meals; switch to lighter alternatives to lower the calorie count and always be consistent with the diet and workout plans.

Always remember ‘Dieting’ is not ‘Not Eat’, it is following a particular diet. For a healthy weight loss, it just has to be done the natural way. No starvation. Drink water before every meal. Diet and exercise are both important for weight loss.
