In our old,great nation India a woman is personification of a goddess, a symbol of respect & devotion to the gods.
Women safety in india is a big concern although there are number of laws to protect women but there is lack of effective implementation of those laws. Unfortunately latest crimes against women as goddess but demand introspection.
Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru has said, “You can tell the condition of nation by looking at the status of women”.
Beginning in 1980s, concern about increasing violence against women led 35women’s organizations, students activist groups & trade unions to form a coalition called Dahej Virodhi Chetna Manch to advocate changes to india’s then existing dowry laws. Their efforts helped pass the Dowry prohibition Amendment Act in 1984.
Law enforcement & judiciary should be trained to address violence against women effectively & India should periodically revolt these measures & allocate funding to its most promising programs.
