things you need to know about this new tech-startup from assam.

happy faces at OGO

This new tech-startup from Assam, a brainchild of entrepreneur/techie duo- Rahul Sharma and Partha Saikia  from Guwahati, is set to change the dynamics of on demand logistics and mobility services in the North-East region. OGO is a one of its kind car and bike taxi aggregation app that provides on demand mobility and delivery services. The app has made commuting within the margins of the city very reliable, easy and affordable. With over 1000 cars and bike taxis already registered and with an average of 70-100 registrations per day, the ever increasing high demand for online mobility services have inspired the company to recruit more drivers and riders and expand their services to other major cities across Assam and India.

For most parts of 2016 and  2017, which were marked by bans, strikes, drive protests and legal encounters for cab aggregations such as Ola and Uber when incentives plans were revised and were slashed up to 40%. Drivers were charged a commission of 20%  of the gross fare and the overall per monthly income of these people saw a sharp decline. Such an anarchic situation arose as a result of demand outstripping supply.

OGO was developed in this context, to provide a win-win situation to both the parties: drivers as well as customers. The app was launched in July 3rd, 2017 and has already crossed more than 20,ooo downloads and successfully completed over 10,000 rides till date. The underlying aim behind the project is to generate employment in the region and help several drivers live a life of dignity and integrity by providing a consistent income source. OGO strives to bring about a simultaneous change to the lives of those who offer rides and to those who need it.

OGO  strives to provide an important social function for members of the community who have limited mobility and/or disability and have limited public and private transport options. Being the first of its kind, it is sure to create a market boom and bring about a change in the demographics of the region.

The app comes with a variety of features such as no surge pricing (yes, you read it right!), set and book your favorite driver, call and book, cars as well as bike taxis with fares as cheap as Rs.5/km. OGO has its operations currently only in Guwahati but will soon be available in other major locations across India. You can download the app in this link
