With a significant number of MBA women students challenging the opposite gender in education, the word “diversity” is no more restricted to being one of the cool terminologies, it really does exist and is an inevitable characteristic of an environment where better leaders are created.
The ISB Executive MBA Class of 2017 has a batch of about 900 of which 30% are women, the highest proportion since the start of the program about 15 years ago. ISB’s first class of Executive MBA had 128 students of which 26 were women.
Now, Companies have taken cognizance of a lot of women who are willing to determine their course of growth and are ready to reskill themselves from time to time by attending a lot of executive management programs. Additionally, the new Companies Act has also made it mandatory to have at least one woman on board.
While this trend is not of too much surprise abroad, a lot of women taking out time to do their second MBAs from the best MBA Colleges in India juggling marriages, motherhood and other crucial stages increasing the representation of women in the corporate sector is inspiring.
A lot of B-schools are working their way up by creating a conducive environment for women wherein classes suitable to those managing familial or other personal commitments are being put in place. A lot of female professors and counselors imparting cases that are women-centered are being hired across to promote an environment to make women speak and learn.
Breaking myths about the potential of women at a workplace, the increased participation of women in the workplace creates an environment of equality with a set of perspectives that are more diverse. The average age of women pursuing such programs is between 27-33, who handle family and career with equal responsibility.
This trend is a positive welcome in a society of prejudices and societal pressures that the female gender is susceptive to and is bound to increase the nominations of more such women to attend Executive MBA Programs by big corporate houses.
