“An exclusive lane” is not another love poem, but another one on feminism composed by a 17 year old feminist namely Pakhi.
The poem is narrative, thus it discusses what the indian society expect girls to be, and what has the 17 year old herself turned out to be(just the opposite, to what the society wants).In the poem, her mind is cluttered with a plenty of questions related to her real identity, which she expresses with a lot of twists and turns. Ultimately, all the confusion reaches to ‘her best thought of solution’ in the end of the poem when she prompts ,”its about the girls being Pakhi, and the society being Pratigya”.
The young poetess has used 4 hindi words in the poem.
The words and their meanings are as follows:
1. PAKHI ( i.e.Her real name) -: a bird.
2. Pratigya-: pledge.
3. Nishtha-: trust.
4. Samaj-: society.
The poem lacks similies and metaphors, but hopefully it will touch the hearts of many!
