Free Verse Poetry: Coiling Soul

I found you.
Curled around your soul, coiling
bitter scars.
Heart-stuck to dark glue.
Tough and unforgiving.
I had mine too.
It was the baby blue in your eyes.
A face lined with words.
A body spoke of wanting hunger.
A heart in need of nurturing.
Called to me.
Like a silver magnet-drawn to you.
Sparks fly behind flecks of blue.
I don’t think you saw it in the mirror.
If you cry, I’ll hold your tears,
then I’ll water the seeds that I’ll plant
there with love.
Yesterday, I held my scars tight
to my soul.
But, I soon realized I couldn’t pack
dark weighted rocks anymore.
I could’ve drowned.
I hold hopes, light, and laughter.
And laughter in glass jar spilling.
Pour over a coiling soul.
