Voting made fun!

One of the major instance of true democracy in any country is the right to enfranchisement. However sadly has this right taken for granted? Countries like North Korea that do proclaim themselves to be “democratic” or the recent Arab Spring shows the extents to what these countries and their people do to exercise their rights.

Here are the ways how we can try making voting a fun, learning and rewarding process #JetSetVote

1. Voters education is a must, this can be done through the college students unions and the administration where the council and union can help educate their peers, in my college St Xaviers, Kolkata as general secretary I was given this opportunity, also form 6 was widely circulated for registration of first time voters.

2. Considering the use of social media trend these days, campaigns and hastangs help garner support for a cause, youths can help one another and in return inspire each other to go out and vote and make a difference.

3. The Election Commission can help by greeting first time voters with gifts and small tokens and allow these first time voters to feel a sense of responsibility and pride making sure that this feeling stays with them psychologically and they remain responsible voters in future.

4. The Election Commission themselves can partner with media houses and social media groups like Facebook and Instagram to spread voter awareness and bring in a sense of pride and responsibility among the youths.

5. Finally the use of youth forums and symposiums under the advocacy of the Election Commission with the support of political parties educating youths to vote is necessary where the first time voters can also engage with the youth leaders and feel even more inspired to cast their invaluable votes.
