On the Occasion of Dussehra Festival.

Definitions:

  1. The name Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit Dasha-hara literally means Dashanan ravan (Name of devil & in short Dasha and Hara (defeat)) referring to  Rama’s victory over the ten-headed terror king Ravana.
  2. The name Vijayadashami is also derived from the Sanskrit words “Vijaya-dashami” literally meaning the victory on the dashami(Dashmi being the tenth lunar day of the Hindu calendar month). Dugra fought with evils for nine nights and ten days, then celebrated the festival called Dussehra.

Spirit of Festival:

The intention of celebrating Dussehra festival is, the great people like Durga and Rama who kills the Devil, Ravan. The fact is Dussehra is not merely a festival but it’s a victory over evils and terror kings like Ravana. Now a days the spirit of such festival is dead and we are just celebrating by eating, doing parties and consuming alcohol as a good deed.

Time to Think:

If we see around us, it’s a tough task to be away from the evils of the society. Society is deeply rooted with evils like corruption, drug addiction, consuming of alcohol on large making it legal, child labour, rapes, farmer suicides, lack of moral in education syllabi, Interest (poor becomes more poor and richer will become richest), dowry, adultery, many such evils can be defined. As a respected citizens it’s our duty to uproot the evils and establish the right which is the actual message of festival “Dussehra”.

Not only in Hindu scriptures even the Quran state, “there should be some people among you to call people to right and uproot the evils from the society, to make peace”, it’s a time to unite ourselves on the basis of humanitarian grounds irrespective of caste, creed, religion, on a common platform to uproot the evils of the society, to show the world the best example of communal harmony and peace.

Message and wishes:

I hope people of India come to forward to kill the evils with in us and the world follows us. Happy Dussera.
