Maitreyi College Echos; Yeh India ka time hai.

A time when country is witnessing fiery outspoken women being brutally murdered, when girls are facing humilation for making independent choices, here comes Girls of Delhi University’s  Maitreyi College. 

Maitreyi College of the University of Delhi is one of the 75 educational institutions chosen by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development organise an event – Sankalp se Siddhi Tak: Yeh India ka Time Hai to commemorate 75 years of Quit India Movement and 70 years of Independence.

On 22nd September the walls of Maitreyi welcomed everyone with posters and photographs showcasing the authentic beauty of the country. The programme began with Pathan on the theme “India without Fear”. The event took the audience back to the independence era through dramatic reading of well known verses of famous poets like Ram Prasad Bismil, Adam Gondvi, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Rabindra Nath Tagore by the students of the departments of History, Political Science and Sociology. The students of all three respective the departments had gathered on one platform to discuss on theme “New India by 2022: Challenges and Future Prospects”. Through discussion , the students reflected their ideas of a violence free, gender equality, peaceful and safe India.

The event witnessed RJ Sukriti interacting with the young minds and encouraging the crowd through her medium of entertainment and humor.
As rightly said, ‘music connects souls’ the event ended with the tunes of Rock band Nasya.
