NEED ZERO FOOD WASTE POLICY IN INDIA

Food waste in India  a threat to Food Security, Need to to raise food save awareness  Campaign in india( like swachh bharat abhiyan) to reduce  food waste and promote sustainable consumption

Food losses refer to the decrease in edible food mass throughout the part of the supply chain that specifically leads to edible food for human consumption. Food losses take place at production, postharvest and processing stages in the food supply chain . Food losses occurring at the end of the food chain (retail and final consumption) are rather called “food waste”, which relates to retailers’ and consumers’ behaviour.  Food waste is a growing problem in many cities and new generation wasted more food  Wasteing of food at consumer level is more serious or critical issue than  processing stage because it already consume too much cost and energy for making edible form. Food losses represent a waste of resources used in production such as land, water, energy and inputs but you know food waste at consumer level more dangerous than at production and processing level because too much energy and cost involved to give final shape for eating purpose. Approximately 11 kg of food per person per year is wasted in developing Asian countries (FAO, 2011)  This is the  point where we can stop the food losses through public awareness, sensitizing  OR  making Laws to imposing 5 t0 10% fine for wasteing food at restaurant, hotels, marriage hall, all college messes and Govt canteen etc. The lack of awareness around the issue and interrelated issues, such as malnutrition, poverty and food shortage, is minimal and hence a small contributor to the larger picture of food waste and the aforesaid issues. But, food waste alone incurs huge monetary losses to industries and mankind, in general. “We have thousands of people in India who go hungry every day.
