ENGINEERS IN MODERN INDIA

We all know that India is the fastest growing country in the world. And when the word ‘development’ comes with respect to India, engineers play a vital role in modern India. Engineers of any field are the architect of a better world. Starting from a mechanical engineer to a computer engineer, everybody has their respective roles to play, which in turn, accelerates the ongoing process of development in almost every aspect – be it social, political, economic or democratic. Tracing down the history of engineering from the pre-independence era, it can be found that India has produced some of the finest engineers till the present times. Be it the pioneer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who is regarded as the greatest Indian engineer and is often revered as the first eminent engineer or be it the great Dr Abdul Kalam, whose incredible contributions in the field of aerospace engineering had set new benchmarks, an engineer’s contribution is indispensable to the emergence of India as a major global economic power. Undeniably, our Indian engineers have made a remarkable transformation by redefining the basic necessities to the advanced elements of new-age technology.

There is no doubt that India has achieved milestones in various fields of engineering, but on the other hand, we also have a long way to travel to become a fully developed nation. And for this vision to turn into reality, the budding engineers have got a huge sense of responsibility towards the nation and the society. It is believed that the Indian economy is expected to experience a higher growth in the coming future for which good engineers are the need of the hour. In addition to these, the upcoming engineers need to inculcate the true work culture as well as the urge to work for the nation. To just earn a high-packaged job or to build a high-profile career at abroad cannot be the sole motive of an aspiring engineer. To see India in the list of superpowers, each and every engineer needs to come out of their academic boundaries and start thinking in an unconventional manner. As we know that “a journey of thousand miles begins with a single step”, similarly the dream of becoming a developed nation will be possible only when our rational minds will run parallel with the desire to work for the countrymen. Only then, new innovations and creations will spark off and India will take a new shape in the coming times. As said by Sir Visvesvaraya that “Engineers are creators and creation is development”, so engineers will always be the backbone of developing India.
