Apothecary, a group of medical college students of Calicut Medical college are finding time to carry out awareness all around Kozhikkode regarding the national scheme of MR vaccination campaign. The relative percentage of immunised children are low in the Malabar areas owing to widespread anti vaccination campaign by religious and other forces. So this group of young medicos took it as their responsibility to spread awareness into the need of getting their children immunised. They have conducted classes in more than 50 schools to more than 5000 parents in this regard and the movement had got widespread appreciation from all corners. The latest in the activities include conducting flash mobs in various districts, giving the msg of MR campaign. And all these activities are precided over by the district medical officers.
Apothecary is an initiative of SFI Calicut medicos and has always taken public health as their responsibility. They have made notable contributions in the anti diphtheria campaign and organ donation campaign previously.
