Meghalaya CM Mukul sangma signs MOU

Meghalaya CM Mukul Sangma has always tried to do the best in his power for the upliftment of the state and right from the time the time he gained office, he had been instrumental in bringing about great changes in the lives of the people of Meghalaya. Recently, Dr. Mukul Sangma signed the historic Memorandum of Understanding between the Wallonia Region, Kingdom of Belgium and the Meghalaya State Government, which indeed promises great things to happen in the future. The MoU was signed at the Taj Diplomatic Enclave at New Delhi and saw the presence of a number of eminent dignitaries from both the regions.

The chief objective of signing the MoU was to ascertain the promotion of healthy and productive relationship, diplomatically and otherwise, and there were promises of collaborations in the near future, especially in the field of trade and commerce, training, agro-food inclusive of breweries, architecture, health care, environmental areas, sports and leisure, management of eco- systems, urban developments, promotion of science and technology, veterinary and animal husbandry among several other fields. The occasion became all the more special because of the present visit of the King and Queen of Belgium to India and the presence of royalty always adds another dimension to any event, and it is indeed an major milestone for the Meghalaya Government.

CM Mukul Sangma also pointed out that some regions of Belgium were also straining under lack of rural underdevelopment soon after the great Wars but the country has done an amazing job of bringing everyone under the fold of urban development and today it is one of the most thriving countries in Europe. Belgium, on the other hand, had expressed interest to learn more about and implement eco-tourism and eco- management in their country, something that was greatly needed in today’s time of global warming. Both the countries are to benefit immensely from the agreements. Two MoUs were already signed between the two governments and other dignitaries are also of the opinion that Meghalaya is all set to usher in another wave of prosperity with this very productive collaboration with the Kingdom of Belgium.
