Fulfilling Bucket Lists of Underprivileged Children

16th December, 2017

Chanakyapuri, New Delhi

Bucket List, a non-profit organisation in New Delhi hosted their event, Tell-a-Tale, on Saturday in Chanakyapuri. The event focused on a theatre adaptation of Cinderella, put together by a group of underprivileged children from the areas of Jasola, Nizamuddin and Khadar. Over a 100 guests attended the event. Held at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, this was the second year of Tell-a-Tale.

Apart from the play itself, the highlight of the event was when Rajeev Shukla arrived as the chief guest. Rajeev Shukla is the Chairman, Communication & Coordination Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Member, Press Council of India. The very popular personality was kind enough to take out time from his busy schedule and stay for the entire play, he left only after saying some highly motivating words. Mr. Shukla praised the vision Bucket List is working on and encourage the entire team and children by showing support through his inspiring words.

Theatre is one of the mediums that Bucket List uses to work on the psychological, social & physical development of children. The event is designed in a way to allow the kids to be a part of a team, be on the stage, witness the limelight and tell their story to the world. Each year, a popular fairy-tale is adapted into a play which focuses on breaking stereotypes, and encouraging inclusivity. This year, Cinderella! Cinderella!, as the play was called, made the audience laugh, applaud & rethink their stereotypical surrounding. Bucket List’s idea of breaking stereotypes was evident in their choice of colour on volunteer t-shirts as well – blue for girls & pink for boys.
