Illegal appointment of Assistant Professors (Environmental Studies) in pGDAV, college, DU

You are aware that Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in its judgment (November, 1991) directed the central and Universities to provide compulsory environmental education in colleges. University Grants Commission in its letter to all Universities dated 7th August, 2014 mentioned that the task to teaching the environment module be entrusted with the teachers who fulfill the qualifications laid down by UGC. University of Delhi started environmental studies course from the academic year 2014. PGDAV College appointed 03 Assistant Professor (Environmental Studies) on permanent basis to teach environmental Studies (Environmental Science as per CBCS) who is having post graduation in Biotechnology Botany. This is a clear cut violation of the UGC which require post graduation in relevant subject. (Vide DO letter dated 7th August, 2014, Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Secretary to UGC GoI, Ministry of Human Resource Development, all Vice Chancellors of all Universities have been directed that the task of teaching the module of Environmental studies be entrusted with the teachers who fulfill the qualifications laid down by the UGC (Annexure-I). About 20000 are Ph.D degree holders from 200 environmental institutions across the India (Annexure-II). Since 1999, UGC is conducting NET examination for Assistant Professorship/ Lectureship in Environmental Science subject and total 4073 candidates have already qualified UGC-NET in Environmental Science upto December, 2014 across the India (Annexure-III). As per UGC list, 200 institutions are imparting are imparting the PG/ Ph.D. degrees in Environment Sciences, in actual this number is more than 200. About 20000 students are passing out yearly from these Institutions with degrees in Environment Science). Several eligible candidates having post graduation in environmental science/ studies attended the interview. I kindly request you to take. Immediate action against the people involved in the violation of rules. Immediate appointment of the eligible candidate having post graduation in environmental science/studies by replacing botany and biotechnology candidate.
