It’s been 5 years and we’ve changed for the worse

As I scroll through my phone , I am frightened at the heights of our insensitivity and lows of our morality. It’s been 5 years, 5 long, surreal years since the Nirbhaya rape case and I must say we’ve changed but, sadly for the worse. We now live in a world were people are killed over resent for a film, where a child is butchered to postpone exams, where expressing your opinion comes with consequences, where offence is taken to a whole another level, we live in a haven of adventurous children who at a tender age of 4-5 are out to experiment with their sexual desires, then it is nothing but a disaster in the making.
As we approach the future we are heading towards the past, the past where there was utter and complete anarchy. A five year old girl was raped by the principal of the school and the entire incident was shaken off as an “accident”, too bad that girl did not have 500k followers to back her up, you know what I’m talking about. We live in a world where innocent men are put behind bars for a so called case of molestation while barbarians roam free.
It is high time we stop ranting on social media and actually do something about this. For not every man is a rapist and not every girl is a victim, for not every guru is reverent and not every child innocent. We need to do something because 140 characters are not going to change the world and neither are 280. And what’s more is that we don’t need a full blown revolution with violent marches and angry slogans, we don’t need people to starve themselves or set themselves on fire, we just need one step in the right direction, we need a clear line drawn between what is right and what is not. The world is not going to change overnight, but we can.
