In India, over the last 10 years, the internet has changed a lot. If you are the part that era who has grown up listening to the sound of dial-up connections on their telephones, then probably you know how the internet has changed over time. From those slow, laggy, snail-like 56 kbit/s dial-up connections to the fast, swiftest 12 Mbps connection. Believe it or not, Internet has become a part of our daily lives.

In this article, we are going to talk about the one who has changed the meaning of internet for every Indian people. The one who changed the rules of the game of telecom industry. The one who brings the happiness and joy of using the internet. The one who introduced us to the real meaning of the internet. Yeah, you thought right. We are talking about the company having the smallest name, but have greatest thoughts. We are talking about the baby company (subsidiary company) of RelianceJIO.

JIO launched its services on 1st of September 2016. Mr Mukesh Ambani unleashes the first Reliance JIO Welcome offer on its 42nd Annual General Meeting of Reliance. He announced that the JIO will provide free services from 5th of September to 31st of December.

“Jio’s 4G network covers 18,000 cities and towns, and over 2 lakh villages. By March 2017, we will cover 90% of India’s population. It will be largest 4G LTE network today,” he added.

After the end of Welcome Offer, JIO unleashed its Happy New Year Offer with the reduced data limit of 1 GB for a (per) day up to 31st March 2017. “On new year day all free welcome offer will be migrated to Jio New Year offer,” said Mukesh Ambani.

Well, after the release of these offers, other telecom operators were in shock. They knew, if they don’t reduce the price of their plans, they will vanish soon.

So the biggest telecom giants, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel, started to reduce their data plan rates. By this time the Reliance Jio has caused an extensive pressure in the telecom industry. Vodafone and Airtel had aggressively tried to match the Jio Happy New Year offer but somehow failed. After that Idea and BSNL also joined this competition.

There was a time when these telecom operators charge higher prices for voice and data and we struggle to save our pockets. But with the entry of Jio in the market, everything has changed. Now, these big telecom giants are struggling to survive in the market. And we (customers) are watching all the game. Jio is the real game changer.
