If we turn back the hands of the clock to the end of 2016, there was a buzz all around, that Virat and Anushka are getting engaged amid wedding rumours. As the Bachchans and the Ambanis gathered at the Spa resort near Rishikesh, where Virat and Anushka were on a holiday, it further fueled speculations.
Now, one year later, the pangs of the same can be felt once again. Virat having made BCCI aware that he won’t be available in the month of December due to ‘personal reasons’ has taken time off the cricket field. He is not taking part in the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka.
Reason Genuine But Difficult To Buy
On the eve of the first Test against Sri Lanka, Virat himself had given signs of having some time off from his tight schedule. The reason he gave for that was physical exhaustion. “Definitely I do need a rest, why don’t I. When I think of the time my body should be rested I will ask for it, why not. I’m not a robot, you can slice my skin and check if I still bleed,” Kohli told reporters.
His argument, though genuine, did not seem to hold water on its face value. It is true that Virat having played 10 Tests, 26 ODIs and 10 T20 Internationals in 2017, has every right to demand respite and he deserves every bit of it. But Virat is not the one to miss out on even a single match. Even after he was injured in the 2016 edition of the IPL, he chose to play after getting his thumb heavily taped. Destination Wedding To Seal The Destiny
If reports are to be believed, Virushka (the popular term for Virat and Anushka) have organized a destination wedding in a heritage property within a resort in Tuscany, Italy this month. However, both Virat’s and Anushka’s side have denied the claims of the media. Virat’s manager Bunty Sajdeh stated, “I don’t know where this news is coming from.” While Anushka’s spokesperson said, “There is no truth to this.
However, conjectures are gaining momentum after Anushka was recently spotted at the Mumbai International Airport as professional bhangra dancers were seen entering the resort. The beats of drums and dhol-nagare also came from the venue.
Sachin And Yuvraj All Set To Bless The Couple
Unfortunately, the Indian team will miss out on all this fun as they are currently busy in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh are the only two cricketers who are being reported to attend the wedding. However, Team India can catch some action at the reception that is being organised by Virat in Mumbai on December 26, two days after the final game of the Sri Lanka tour, the third Twenty20, is played in Mumbai.
Marriage Was Always On The Cards
Both Virat and Anushka have always been very outspoken about their relationship. Sometime back when Anushka was asked about her marriage plans, though she did not state any fixed time for it, she said that marriage was likely. “Marriage is on the cards, but I don’t know when it will happen. I haven’t thought about it yet. I have done everything in my life very normally. And marriage is definitely there on my agenda in life. But I don’t know when it will happen,” the actress said.
Virat’s Lady Luck
Recently, in an interview with Gaurav Kapur, Virat went on record to say that he has been dating Anushka for four years. Going all out in his praise for Anushka, he said, “Sir lady luck ka kamaal hai (I’ve got to thank the lady luck). You’ve (Gaurav) seen me, you know I had no brains before. Ever since the lady has come into my life, she’s taught me a lot of things. I’ve learnt a lot, become more sensible in the last 4 years all because of her. She’s taught me how to be more patient and taught me how to utilize the position you are to the fullest.”
