CAT 2017 results have been announced and if you appeared for the test, download your CAT scorecard from here. This year, almost 2 lakh students gave the exam on November 26, 2017, a process which was led by IIM Lucknow. Over the years, CAT has established itself as the biggest MBA entrance exam.
Now that the CAT results are out, here are 5 important facts you should know.
1. Top 20 CAT candidates of 2017 have more diversity
In 2016, the top 20 candidates were all male. This time, two women and three non-engineers have also made the cut, scoring a 100%! These results will now empower 199,000 candidates to seek admission in top B-Schools including IIMs across India, as per Livemint.
2. Patna boy scores 97.75%, after leaving his automobile job
Siddharth Kumar from Patna scored a whopping 97.75% in CAT 2017. This was his second attempt, for which he quit his job in the automobile industry. In his first attempt, he scored 94%. He says that giving mock tests was a key to his success.
3. 21-year-old breaks the myth that commerce students can’t score well in CAT
A young Chandigarh student, Pramod Beri, has proved that commerce students can score well in CAT too, after scoring a perfect 100%. You should solve puzzles for the logic section, and focus more on reading, and less on grammar, says Pramod.
4. How does shortlisting for IIM interviews work?
According to the CAT 2017 FAQ, “The list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the respective IIMs. Each IIM will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. The criteria for shortlisting vary from IIM to IIM.”
5. What are the requirements for an IIM interview after CAT?
If you are shortlisted for an IIM interview after the CAT exam, you will need the following for verification.
- Original marksheets of all semesters, as well as attested copies
- If selected, then original degree certificate as well
- For the reservation category, you need to show the relevant caste/class/disability certificate, and submit a photocopy at the time of the interview
