Founded in 1952, the Madras Motor Sports Club brought racing into mainline Chennai (then Madras) and is now an integral part of the city’s ethos. Car and bike races are held on a regular basis at the Madras Motor Race Track.
If you are in luck and a race is scheduled during your stay, do not miss it. It is the closest you will get to experiencing a professional grade motorsport race.
- Sweet Surfing:
Surfing and India never really went together. That was until the last decade; the water sport has caught a lot of eyeballs in India and many surf schools have popped up on the coastlines. A prominent one being Covelong Point.
There’s a surf school where you can pick up the basics of surf, sup and kayak and a quaint little Bed & Breakfast. It’s an enjoyable treat.

Chennai loves its cricket and especially the Chennai Super Kings, the city-based IPL team. Back in the 2018 league after facing suspension the previous year, fans can’t wait to see their team back in action. April and May, mark the months.

Chennaiyin FC, the city’s football team is leading the table in the 2017-18 Hero Indian Super League—the nation’s premier football league. The home matches are an ocean of yellow, the team’s home colours. Viewing a match is a thrilling experience.
