An Air Mask For Every Man, Woman And Child: Our Future In A Polluted India

The air has been getting hazy, and unless we ensure that the government takes action, the future also could look very hazy.

But all hope is not lost — in the last two years, we have already seen some momentum. In fact, recently, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, our environment minister, responded to a question in the Rajya Sabha and said, “The government has formulated National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) as a long term time bound national level strategy, to tackle the increasing air pollution problem across the country in comprehensive manner.”

However, we have to continue to ensure that the NCAP is not just lip service but urgent, science-based action. If we build a movement of millions of Indians demanding cleaner air, the government will realise they can’t be complacent.
