Yes, we lack patience!

Every country is famous for something bizarre. And so is India! Be it the people, traffic, chaos, politics, the list goes on. But jumping queues is somehow an exceptional phenomenon in our country, which I find the most bizarre. If you want to know Indians and their types, just stand in a queue. If you want to be a part of the most inane conversations, stand in a queue. Outside ATMs, at metro stations, street food joints, airports, ticket counters, just about anywhere to everywhere!

At a queue, you meet many kinds of people; most of whom feel that jumping a queue is their birthright. When in the queue, they discuss the latest news and give advice to whoever they strike a conversation with. They act and also sound like well-thought leaders. They are confident, they speak like one of them is surely going to win the next elections. Honestly, some of them are not too bad.

In the interim, it is an undeniable fact that most of them are in an unnecessary hurry. Even the well-off and educated behave like they can’t stand in a line without throwing a fit. At that moment, there is only one thing that inspires them – getting to the beginning of the line as soon as possible! Because why bother waiting? The ‘I, me and myself’ attitude gets precedence over basic human decency. Remember the famous dialogue by Amitabh Bachchan, which has no doubt inspired generations after generations – Hum jahan khade ho jaate hain, line wahi se shuru hoti hain! Touche, sire!

Anyway, what I meant to say is – Let’s not cross any lines. And just accept it – ‘Yes, we lack patience!’
