Boney Kapoor’s Statement Recorded In Sridevi Accidental Drowning Case

In the case of the death of veteran actor Sridevi, the Dubai Police has recorded the statement of her husband, Bonnie Kapoor. Sridevi died of accidental drowning after losing consciousness in the bathtub of a hotel in Dubai.

Sources told Gulf News that Boney Kapoor was called to the Bur Dubai police station for questioning. In this case, the police filed his statement, after which he got the approval to return to the hotel. Indian diplomatic officials told Gulf News that they are trying their best to get the body of Sridevi through all the layers of approvals. However, they did not give a definite time for this process.

Indian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Navdeep Singh Suri, had earlier told the Indian media that he had gotten approval from the Dubai administration to extradite Sridevi’s body. However, a diplomatic source said that the public prosecution is being exposed to new developments in this case. He said that the Indian Embassy is in touch with the Dubai administration for sanction, and they hope that they will get approval soon.

The chief prosecutor told Gulf News, “In such accidental death incidents, the results of the post-mortem and forensic examination reports are referred to the Public Prosecution as part of ordinary law enforcement procedures. The papers are revised by the prosecutors of the jurisdiction where the incident happened. An official order to hand over the body of the deceased to the family or relatives is issued shortly after that.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the Dubai Police has transferred the case to the Dubai Public Prosecutor, who will follow the regular legal procedures in such cases. Initial investigation revealed that Sridevi was killed after being drowned in the bathtub of the hotel room. Samples of alcohol have been found in her body.

Sources say that the Dubai Police has handed over the forensic report of Sridevi’s death to her family and representatives of the Indian Embassy. However, this envelope has not been opened yet. It has been sent to the Bur Dubai Police Station. Both the representatives have gone to the police station. After opening this envelope with the Dubai Police, its information will be shared with the family and after this, the process of sending the body to India will be started.
