When Our Farmers Feed India, Then Why Are They Going Hungry?

The one who feeds the whole nation is suffering because they have no food to feed themselves.

Yes, I am talking about farmers. Madhya Pradesh a state that is one of the country’s largest agriculture producer. Sadly, today, it is infamous for farmer suicide.

According to a report, on an average, five farmers commit suicide daily in the heart of the nation.

Between 2001 and 2015, 18,687 farmers committed suicide in the state, the data revealed. The deplorable state of the farmers in Madhya Pradesh seems to be neverending as no legitimate action been taken by state government to stop these deaths.

Recently a 34-year old farmer named Vinod Patidar from Neemuch district captured a video selfie. He named five money lenders – four from his Alher village and one from nearby tehsil headquarter, Manasa and said that they were distressing him even after he paid the due amount. He also posted a letter to the PMO.

Soon after filming his 66-second video, he drank poison and committed suicide.

We the people of India must think about the deplorable state of farmers. The farmers are the one who feed the entire nation. The heartbreaking thing is that the same people who provide sustenance to us, cannot afford two meals in a day. Madhya Pradesh has been awarded the “Krishi Karma Award” continuously for the past five years, and yet its farmers are ending their life as they have no access to food.
