We live in a society that is still imperfect. With time, we’ve come to recognise individual and group rights, and many social malpractices, in India, and the world have been abolished. However, there’s a lot that still needs to be done.
In India, there are still several battles that citizens are fighting every day, whether it’s the ever widening economic disparity, a crumbling education system, lack of jobs, and the list could go on.
In such a scenario, the only way that change can be brought about, would be through the active participation of the youth. At the National Institute of Technology, Trichy, students organising the annual cultural festival – Festember 2018, decided to dig deeper into social issues on the occasion of World Day of Social Justice on February 20, 2018.
Here are a few diverse questions they’ve been wondering about and would like you to share your views with them, here:
1) In a world, where children sometimes enter professions such as acting from a very early age, where do we draw the line in the spectrum of child labour?
2) What measures can be taken to make the domestic labour workplace safer and more dignified?
3) Does introducing an element of satire dilute the intentions of serious messages in online posts? Does the wider reach justify this problem?
4) Does regionalism still play a role in critical situations in our daily lives? What change can we bring about to make a difference in the society?
5) What factors do you think were responsible for shaping our culture to have a gender bias in the workplace?
