Watch: This Video Explores The Need To Instil School Readiness In Children

Many people say that they went straight to school and did well in their lives, so why is it now necessary to ensure school readiness in children before they enter school?

This short film titled ‘Exploring School Readiness’ is an attempt to find an answer to this question. The film shows various components of school readiness in a comprehensive way.

At present, all parents want to successfully enrol their child in a school, but many parents are unsure as to how they can do this. Additionally, there is a lack of understanding among early Childhood Education (ECE) educators as well about how to make children geared up for school.

The film ‘Exploring School Readiness’ tries to provide ECE educators and parents with an overview of the pre-requisite skills and competencies that children need in the preschool years to thrive at school later. The film provides practical examples of activities across some good quality ECE centres running in India which ECE educators and parents can conduct with their children at preschool and home to maximise their learning potential. They use the film medium effectively to demonstrate a host of school readiness activities. The film is produced by the Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development, Ambedkar University Delhi using footage recorded during field visits and was recorded in the three states (Rajasthan, Assam and Telangana) where Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development, Ambedkar University Delhi conducted a national level research study titled “Indian Early Childhood Education Impact Study”.
