breastfeeding: a shame for women?

Recently I saw on social media, a  model who was being criticised for posing in a breastfeeding pose for a Malayalam magazine called Grihalaxmi. The caption of the magazine cover says: “Mothers tell Kerala, “please don’t stare, we need to breastfeed”.

The magazine took a bold step by making this as a coverpage and awaring people to know that breastfeeding is just a part of motherhood and nothing to be shamed about. Though breastfeeding is a natural thing but still people around the world make it a taboo.

The magazine took a very appreciating initiative for all the mothers to celebrate their motherhood without any shame.

Being a creature who has the capability of giving life to a species, women has also the power to nourish them. Breastfeeding is an essential part in a child’s life and every person have done that then why being ashamed?

Being a girl, I know how the society reacts to breastfeeding in public areas. But people need to understand that breastfeesing is a natural phenomenon and is necessary so there is nothing to be afraid of it.

People need to welcome this initiative by the magazine.

Just a change in a single thought can change the world.
