The NSS Unit of K.C. College, Churchgate initiated a “SwayamSiddha Project” at their adopted village Karwale (near Saphale). It’s main motive was to promote women empowerment by providing them with self employment opportunities.
A grinding machine was installed at Patilpada which would generate turmeric and red chilli powder. Along with the installation, women were provided with raw materials as well as materials required for packing or sealing.
The inauguration of the same took place on the previous eve of International Women’s Day. Dr. Hemlata Bagla, Principal of KC College and NSS Coordinator Prof. Bidve glorified the event by their presence. It was commenced by Dr. Satish Kolte, NSS Programme Officer of KC College, introducing the Mahila Mandal of Patilpada. Addressing the guests and NSS Volunteers, the Principal said, “I feel good when i see selfless volunteers work as if it is their own village. This is all because of their dedication.” Prof. Bidve added, “I shall make sure that this project achieves success. ”
Thus, Empowering the women, Empowering the village!
