IIMC is a government-run country’s premier media institute. The institute has five regional campuses in Dhenkanal (Odisha ), Jammu(Jammu& Kashmir), Aizawl(Mizoram), Amravati(Maharashtra) and Kottayam (Kerala).
IIMC teaches disciplines including print journalism, radio and television journalism, development journalism, advertising and public relations.Admissions to these courses are conducted through All India Entrance Examination followed by Group Discussions and Interview. Print Journalism courses include English , Hindi journalism and few other Indian languages are also taught like Urdu journalism is imparted in Delhi campus, Marathi, Odia, Malayalam journalism are taught in respective regional campuses .
