Today the Indian democracy is in danger.As me and you celebrate 70 yrs of independence.
We face issues of evm hacking…yes the same voter’s whose right is to vote.
It is shameful the democracy faces issue in UP elections.It has become common to hack evms
Otherwise why the rightful candidate doesn’t get voted to power.Arvind kejriwal showed a prototype as how the evm hacking can be done easily.GVL Narsimha rao wrote a book
On ‘democracy at risk’.can we trust our evms highlighting their vulnerability.The election commission is renowed globally for conducting free and fair elections.
AAP and opposition have constantly raised the issue that developed countries like Germany,UK ,
Netherlands use ballot paper instead of EVMs.
The election commission also referred to a karnataka high court ruling of 2004 where it said.
‘This invention is great achievement in the electronic and computer technology and a national pride.’
But recently Uttarakhand high court has ordered for Evms seizure as credible candidates lost elections.
To build further transparency ,EC started consultation with political parties to explore the
Issue of Voter verifiable Paper audit trail(VVPAT).Election proposes to use this for 2019 polls.
What so ever be the result of it…a new India certainly need new readers and new people
to take it forward.We wish whatever concludes from this…we want to take it forward…
and build a new India.Technology if used in a proper direction will certainly bring a new future
to the 70 yearold democracy.It is for voter’s to decide if they want to build a new india or
enjoy the casteism based politics….ultimately a young democracy will find its voice….in
young leaders.
