Kejriwal’s Apologising Spree Is Winning All Hearts (Except The AAP’s)

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appears to have gone the Gandhian way through his apologising spree. In the past few weeks, he has offered apologies to the Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, the BJP leader Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Kapil Sibal.

According to reports, he is looking to close all 33 defamation cases by making out-of-court settlements. This means that there are several other names in his list to whom he has to apologise.

He is currently in his naysayer, missionary stand – and he is repenting and going round and round apologising for his attitude. His trusted party men Bhagwant Mann and Aman Arora were left wondering about what else he has planned for himself and the party.

Though it is a strategic and diplomatic move on his part to shed the court cases, his trusted lieutenants are now quitting party posts in protest of his apologies. He has approached as many as three important politicians and their spirit of pardon is in tandem with letting bygones be bygones.

His stand was amply evident with the assertion that he was here to serve the people. He did not have enough time to go to the courts for such petty issues. Welfare programmes, including the construction of the schools and the hospitals, are his main action points.

He is begging for more, while also taking a new way to ensure his governance is not stalled. His moves seem to show that this is just the beginning. There is something about his decision that seems to make his adversaries cool and calm, but how long will this last?
