Sunil Gavaskar Performs ‘Nagin’ Dance After India Wins The Nidahas Trophy In Colombo

Win or defeat is part of the game of cricket but what became more popular during the Triangular T-20 tournament in Colombo was the ‘nagin’ dance – which is something we’ve seen in Hindi films.

This particular form of dance received applause as well as jeers on the cricket ground.

Even if Indian fans were aware of various varieties of classical and modern dance forms, the ‘nagin’ dance of Bangladesh brought more enjoyments to cricket fans across the sub-continent.

First and foremost, the Bangladeshi cricketers enjoyed the dance after their victory over Sri Lanka at Premadasa stadium in Colombo.

Indian players usually perform Bhangra when celebrating a victory. Nevertheless, this unique dance form captured their attention completely. After winning the Nidahas trophy, India got the chance to mock and imitate the peculiar dance style.

Amid India’s victory, veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also could not control himself from performing the ‘nagin’ dance.

Some took pleasure in his performance, while others did not take so kindly to his gesture. One person tweeted that he looked like “a baboon trying to escape zoo.”

Another tweet called him “indecent” while some Bangladeshi cricket fans questioned why he was trying to copy their dance.
