This is a story of a girl called Shalini, who is from normal middle class family. She is working in a Banglore IT sector. She has outgoing personality. She is also bold and beautiful. She stays in a working women PG cause her family is settled in cultural heritage city Mysore. She has been brought up with traditional values which normal typical Indian middle class family has. She is not the one who makes boyfriends and hangout. She is matured and responsible girl. Likes to spend her precious time learning something betterment of her career and personal life.
One Sunday morning around 9.30 she receives an unknown call.
Shalini : hello
Caller: hello
S : hello,may I know who is speaking?
Caller: is this shalini? (in low voice)
S : s tell me
Caller : u r shalini from bangalore right ?
S : s but may I know who is this?
Call cut…….
Shalini ignored the call thinking that some network problem he will call back. After a minute again she got a call from another unknown number. Shalini received the call. Conversation started same like last call and call got cut..
This time she felt might be something is wrong but again she ignored..
After 2mins she got another call.. Unknown number. But this person was little rude.
S : may I know who is this?
Caller: (in hindi) Kyun re natak mar rahi hai
S: hello tell me who r u
Caller : abhi to chat kar rahi thi na. Hindi me bat kar muje English nahi aata.
S: aapko Kaun chahiye. I think wrong number.
C: Kyun re abi to number diya na. Shalini hai na tu bangalore me rahne wali
Shalini was surprised to hear this. Number name and place all are correct but Who is he and what is he talking?
S : sahi hai. Kya Mein jaan sakti hu maine kab chat kiya aapse?
C: bahut bhav khati he re tu. Abi abi to chat kar rahi thi.
Shalini is confused now. Bcz she doesn’t even know that person and she did not even chat with him. Finally she cut the call by telling wrong number.
After cutting the call she saw she had received so many unknown msgs in whats up. Nearly 5 to 6 unknown numbers. As she was in one of the matrimony site she thought may be some one from matrimony and rplyd to all.
Shalini rply : hi may I know who is this.?
Usually when matrimony contacts starts conversing they start with hi followed by asking details.
Again for her surprise some dint rply as she asked who is this. Some rplyd with half butler English telling that just now u were chatting with me.
Before she gets time to think what is happening with her today, she is getting continuous msgs and calls. First she thought some of her friends r playing prank with her but slowly she started realizing it can’t be prank call. Bcz she was getting calls from different places of India some even out of country ISD calls. She was totally blank and stopped receiving calls as she understood somewhere something wrong. But how to find out ? She decided to chat with unknown number accepting that she is the one who was chatting with him. So that she will find out Wat actually happening with my number. But nobody was responding when she started asking where I was chatting with u?
By that time she got another call.. She had received more than 30 unknown calls within half an hour. This is 31st call she had understood something is happening.
S: hello
C: hello shalini
S: s tell me who r u?
C: tum shalini ho na bangalore se?
She had got frustrated by that time without understanding anything so started shouting at him
S: ha main shalini hu, bangalore se hi hoon par main aapko nahi janti. Maine aapse chat bhi nahi kiya. Since morning I am receiving unknown calls I don’t even know what’s happening who is playing like this with me.wrong number bol bol ke thak chuki hoon. Kya aap bata sakte ho Maine kab aap se chat kiya?
C: some one is using ur number and chatting with all.
Call cut….
U can imagine how a girl feels wen she hear this. She felt very bad that someone is doing this purposefully to irritate her. She started thinking who the hell using my name and chatting with all giving my number.
So many questions started coming in her mind. Who is he or she Wat they want? Is this the way of blackmailing? Or simply taking revenge? But who hates me so much to take revenge? Wat have I done to them? What I should do now? Etc etc
One of the caller called again and told her some one is using ur number in adult site and chatting be careful. And cut the call.
Shalini didn’t even know what is adult site so she checked in google when she saw what is adult site she started shivering.
She had just heard about misuse of girl number and her photos in internet but she didn’t know such sites are there called adult site. Tears rolled down from her eyes thinking her situation and how she has been trapped. She didn’t know what to do in such situations. She was scared to share this with others too thinking that people may not believe her intern they may think I am that type of girl itself. Didn’t share with parents as her parents were very much sensitive and don’t have much idea about these kinds of cyber crimes so they may panic thinking unnecessarily. Girl who is at the age of marriage can’t even publicize this Bcz it affects her. People start talking negatively instead of supporting her in such situation. She can’t give complaint to police without her parents knowledge. Going to station alone and giving complain she found it difficult. She was like helpless without knowing what to do.
Finally she decided to face it boldly come what may. As she knew it was adult site she started ignoring unknown calls and msgs. Calls and msgs stopped coming when she ignored. She felt relaxed. But this was not the end.It started repeating daily at a particular time. Then she understood ignoring is not the solution to end this. It was literally irritating situation for her when she was getting continous calls and msgs. She stated blocking the unknown calls and msgs. But she was tired of doing that too. She decided to find out some permanent solution for this so she started collecting details to reach out to that stupid who is doing this.
Shalini was bold enough to handle the situation. The only way to get to know about all these is by talking to those unknown calls. so she started collecting the informations from those unknown persons. But people who are using adult sites talking to them is it safe? Guys those who are good never enter to such sites so now it was a challenging situation for her to talk to such people asking help. She found that people those who chat in adult site are not even that bad. Some were good too they treated her like their own sister and helped her. One among them was a guy who was a soldier. He told her I will help u out in wat ever way possible but my name should not come out as I am holding responsible position. Shalini wanted to know Wat is actually adult site how using some one’s number helps them? wat they get by that? So she started questioning him.
S: bhayya kya hai uss adult site me kya mein jansakti hoon who banda koun hai Jo mera naam use karke chat kar raha hai?
Soldier: wo tho open site hai Koi bhi log in ho sakta hai aur chat kar sakta hai
S: wo kya chat kar raha tha aapse?
Soldier: zyada kuch nahi who bol tha hai ki main Shalini hoon aap muje what’s up ya call karke contact karsakte hai.
S: kya aap muje wo screen shot bhej sakte hai?
Soldier: zaroor par mera naam nahi aana chahiye agar tum ise police ko dhikaogi to
S: zaroor bhayya bharosa rakhiye mujpe
He sent screen shots. There was nothing like photo or anything it was a open site Wic anyone can login with any name they u can chat with multiple people who r all online at that time. So wen ever that fellow used to login Shalini used to get continuous calls and msgs as he was giving her name place and number. By seeing that Shalini got hundreds of questions in her mind. Like why people are so crazy to use such sites?
Why men have become so jobless finding friends in such sites?
Why can’t they lead their life without doing all these nonsense?
Won’t their conscious prick when they cheat their parents and wives trust etc etc
Shalini was able to find out Wat is happening in that site but she could not find who is he or she misusing girls number? She badly wanted to know who is that? why they did that? How they got her details? So she asked help from one of her friends who is in police department. She narrated complete story and asked his help to find out who is that. But as that was open site he couldn’t get any details.
Some suggested Shalini to change her number but she didn’t. She told as I have not done any mistake I will not get scared of any one. I will see what he /she will do by using my number. I will not change my number instead I will face the situation. I have good friends who can support me if it goes beyond my control. so no problem let me see how long they can play like this.
Shalini stopped blocking numbers as that is not permanent solution. She started attending all the calls and informing them “it’s not me some one is using my number u scold that fellow for playing with u all.” Shalini started replying to all msgs and calls boldly telling this. Finally she succeeded. That fellow stopped playing with people using her number.
One bold step of a girl can change the situation. If she would have got scared like how usually girls do and suffer within she wouldn’t have got solution to her problem.
