After Being Cleared Of Corruption Charges, Shami’s Ready To Return To Cricket

In the past few days, Mohammad Shami must have thought much about his career. However, that uncertainty is over now. Hopefully, he can now also be seen on the cricket ground.

He has now been absolved of the match-fixing charges. Shami, on his part, has promised to give his 100% to the game.

He has been cleared of match-fixing charges by the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The ACU chief Neeraj Kumar submitted his report to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators.

This development has come as a major relief for him. He has finally found his worth in the form of an annual retainer fee of ₹3 crores, besides being cleared to return to the cricket ground.

Throughout the saga, the cricketer had asserted his innocence. It would seem that the BCCI has also accepted it finally.

To me, the whole sequence of match-fixing allegation now seems baseless and completely out of order, especially after the findings of the committee. The committee also said that no further actions under the BCCI corruption code were warranted in the matter.

Shami’s conduct has now come as a relief to the cricket board, as it plans to show care for the player. The board even showed this by offering him a Grade B annual retainership contract. The time is now ripe for him to throw the seamer’s ball again.
