This Concerned Mother Wants To End Malnourishment In India

India has the highest population of malnourished children in the world, housing a whopping 50% of the world’s undernourished kids, according to a joint 2017 ASSOCHAM and EY report.

Statistics like these have deeply affected Yasmin Bhadha, a mother of two children.

‘Being a mother of two teenagers, I understand the importance of good nourishment for growing children. My daily thought is – Are my children getting good nourishment to see them through the day?’

And this very thought led her to realise that there are so many less fortunate children in India who don’t get access to good nutrition, whose parents find it difficult to provide for them.

To do her bit to help nourishment reach less fortunate children,Yasmin started donating to the Annamrita Program of ISKCON Food Relief Foundation (IFRF), a not-for-profit organization which aims to curb malnutrition and classroom hunger.

This foundation provides nutritious and wholesome Mid-Day meals to 1.2 million children across 7 states of India every day.

Just the guarantee of having one tasty and fulfilling meal in a day, brings thousands of children to school everyday.

This program has also been successful in boosting classroom attendance and helping these children complete their primary education.

A visit to their state-of-the art and hygienic kitchen in Mumbai, reinforced my belief in their work and I have been donating regularly to the organisation to fund the meals of the less privileged children of our country.

Yasmin said it was a learning experience for her own children who were happy to see their mother further this cause.

It takes only Rs 450 to feed one child a nutritious Mid-Day Meal for one year and hence they need to raise Rs 2,25,000 to provide meals for 500 children.

The campaign has already helped many children get a balanced diet. Do your bit in helping another distressed child live to up to his potential today. Help millions of children and their families liberate themselves from the vicious cycle of malnourishment and illiteracy. Let Each One Feed One!
