Would you believe that Kohli has a huge fan following even in Pakistan? During the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a fan carried a placard with the message, “We want to see Virat Kohli in PSL.”
This was what probably drew the attention of everyone like a bolt from the blue. But this was ably perceived as a confirmation of the extensive fan following the Indian cricketer has. It was also a most candid acknowledgement of Virat’s international recognition.

In a way, this enthusiastic fan’s liking for Kohli in the PSL might be one way to draw crowds to the stadiums which have remained remarkably vacant for a T20 tournament. In Dubai, where the third edition of PSL is underway, there haven’t been enough crowds despite the organisers adding glitz and glamour to the tournament by roping in more stars. Empty stands and a fairly low number of spectators seem to have further demoralised the organisers.
It didn’t start out this way though PSL began with a star-studded opening ceremony on February 22, 2018. It would seem that the organisers had indeed thought of something different to attract people. However, it now seems that only Virat’s presence will revive the flagging interest of the people in this tournament.
