AAP’s Raghav Chadha Returns His Salary To The Home Minister

Soon after Centre’s stern step in regard to the cancellation of his advisory post in the Arvind Kejriwal Government, the Aam Aadmi Party functionary Raghav Chadha despatched a demand draft worth Rs 2.50 along with a letter to the Union Home Ministry which he had earned in his capacity as adviser to Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The sacking of the nine advisers, including Chadha, is the latest in the series of tussles between AAP Government and the Centre to maintain control over Delhi.

He appeared to have a sarcastic attitude to the decision of the Central Government. His position was not aimed at any financial benefit. With a missionary zeal and outlook, the practising Chartered Accountant embraced the position for doing bigger things, as he had earlier emphasised upon.

In his letter addressed to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Chadha urged him to kindly accept the enclosed demand draft. He also pointed out that he was offered an honorarium of rupee one per month for the post. This was what he wanted to lay special emphasis on.

This position made him earn over the time a sum of two rupees and fifty paise. However, he held the post for 75 days, two years ago. That was a special arrangement, but that remained a point of contention with the government at the centre.

Making his intention clear, he said that he wanted to do something for the people of Delhi. He was not concentrating on his personal gains like BJP leaders Sambit Patra and Shazia Ilmi. He also wanted to make the BJP realise something. They were giving plum posts in ONGC, Engineers India Limited and in the Madhya Pradesh government to religious leaders while advisory members in the AAP government were sacked with the reason that their positions were not “sanctioned”.
