6-Month-Old Girl Found Dead In Indore After Possible Rape. When Will It All Stop?

A few days back, the rape and murder of an 8-year-old child in Kathua was in the news. People showed their anger and stood for the victim in form of candle marches, processions and protests.

However, just after all this, a 6-month-old child’s body was found soaked in blood from the basement of a building in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday (April 21).

According to a news report, the post-mortem of the infant, which was carried out at the state-run MY Hospital in Indore, suggested that she was perhaps raped before being killed as her private parts bore an injury mark. Police identified the accused as Sunil Bheel (21), claiming that he had been seen in CCTV footage, at around 4.45 AM on Friday, carrying the infant on his shoulder.

What was the fault of that innocent soul who came into this world only a few months back? At the moment she was being tortured and put to death, she might have cried aloud in pain but there was no one to save her.

Not only did the child bleed, the morality of the nation also bled. I don’t think these candle marches, processions, and posting stories in favour of the victims (on social media) work anymore. If we want to do something to stop this rape culture, we need to improve our own selves at a basic level. The government has to take steps to stop this rape culture.

The saying goes like this – “The whole thing becomes like this evil enchantment from a fairy tale, but you’re made to believe the spell can never be broken.” They also say that “all women love semi-rape. They love to be taken. It was his sweet brutality against my bruised body that had made his act of love so piercingly wonderful.” We mute the realisation of the malevolence of this heinous act (which is too threatening to bear) by turning the offenders into victims, and by describing their behavior as the result of forces beyond their control.

This time while asking for justice, we the youth will use the pen as our sword to write against each and every person involved in this rape culture to shame them. We feel ashamed to be a part of this so-called ‘body-politic’. As a voice of the youth, I want to challenge the system.

You changed the currency overnight. You changed the taxation system overnight. You changed the governments. Now, if you can’t change this rape culture and convict these rapists, then I can also change my vote overnight. 2019 is not far.
