But this is not about saving a boy or saving a girl. It is about saving a human.
I remember an incident that my friend had told me about. In 2005, she was 12 years old and used to go to take tutions from a 60-year-old man near her house. She told me that she had gone to play with the tutor’s granddaughter one day and that he had requested her to come again the next day.
When she reached his house the next day, the granddaughter was asleep. My friend got a little scared but pretended to go to the girl’s room to wake her up. However, she was stopped by her tutor who took her to another room. There, he kissed her cheeks and made her stand in front of a mirror. He began to run his hands all over her body.
Thankfully, a small child interrupted her ordeal. He started banging on the door, asking for it to be opened because he thought he was late for class. My friend took that moment to run home. Her only regret? Not slapping the man.
I told you this because I’ve heard of too many arguments saying that it is time we save our girl child. No. It’s time we save humanity.
