CWG 2018: It’s All About India!

This year’s Commonwealth Games has been historic for India. None of the athletes are leaving a chance to astonish their fans with their fabulous performances.

It’s the first time India has managed to win a gold in the badminton mixed team event in the CWG. Srikanth Kidambi’s superlative performance against Malaysia made him the world’s number one male badminton player – the first time an Indian has occupied the position. This is a great moment of pride, and we should not forget the constant support provided by his coach, Gopichand. He is the reason behind the golden era of Indian badminton.

Another charming face of the Commonwealth Games 2018 was Heena Sidhu who proved herself by winning a gold in the 25m pistol shooting event. This was Heena’s first individual gold medal; she claimed silver in 10m air pistol event on Sunday. India’s gold medal tally is currently at 12.

Whether it’s the hockey teams or the sprinters, everyone is out on the field to prove their worth. Muhammed Anas, one of the finest Indian sprinters, has come up with new national record timing of 45.31 seconds in the 400m final, though he missed out on a medal and clinched the fourth position.

On the other hand, the weightlifters of the country are busy collecting more medals. Paralifter Sachin Chaudhary claimed the bronze medal in men’s heavyweight powerlifting event. On the whole, this year, the athletes haven’t been missing any opportunity to make their country proud, encouraging the old and the young with their magnificent performances.
