Water, the most important ingredient for life to persist. Our planet earth whose 71 percent of the total surface area is covered with water is now suffering from water scarcity. With every passing day, water is getting rarer. Cape Town, South Africa one of the most beautiful places in the world is suffering from water scarcity and as predicted it will very soon run out of water.
The situation in Cape Town creates a matter of concern for all the countries to take the problem of water scarcity seriously because with time the population will increase and so will the demand for water. It is necessary to get a medium to conserve water and clean the polluted water for daily use.
India is the 2nd most populous country after China and it also suffers from some serious water problem. As the water of our rivers which we consider holy is being polluted, it is necessary for us to act seriously. Every year during summer many parts of our country get hit by drought and famine.

Due to poor infrastructure and lack of water management India is also among those countries where water wastage is more. There is a demand of around 135 litres per capita daily in urban and 40 litres per capita daily in rural areas and to meet this the prime source of water is groundwater. Water is extracted in a large amount but not recharged at that speed which is going to increase problems in coming years when population increases.

If not taken care water problem is going to affect the lives of oncoming generations. We need to act now before its too late.Small efforts such as using bucket instead of showers, closing taps after usage, checking on leaks and fixing them can help to solve this problem a little bit. Moreover, we should start rainwater harvesting and encourage others to do so as our main source of water is groundwater. Government should also spread awareness about water conservation and run programs to stop water from getting polluted, and encourage development of medium to recycle and clean water. This way we could meet our water demands and ensure there is water left for the future generations. It is better to act sooner than to regret later. Capetown is suffering and others are on the verge of that, it is important to learn from that and act wisely or the future will be very harsh.
