Right-wing organisations have been at the nuclei of India’s biggest socio-political issues – communal riots, the intolerance debate, the beef ban and cow vigilantism, Award Wapsi, Love Jihad and the anti-nationalism and sedition row to name a few. On the one hand, it is their honour and self-proclaimed duty to defend the country and its culture. But this allegiance has often taken on a dark and extreme form, leaving the public wary and resentful.
