I am a journalism student from Kashmir. Writing is an important element when it comes to my profession. Apart from that, being a common person, it is the means through which people like me in Kashmir tell stories to the world through social media. I usually vent out my emotions via social media; mostly, the anger which has become the only means to feel better in a place like Kashmir.
Without getting into the vast detail about conflict or uprising in Kashmir, I believe writing has helped everyone here counter the negative narrative of Kashmir. To correct the facts, I write about reality. I write when someone is killed in Kashmir and about the injustice faced by them. I write when our rights are repeatedly violated. I write to narrate the pains of funerals which have become a norm now. I write when the ones who rule us make repeated farce promises. I write to make them aware that- of your every action we have a reaction- writing facts. My pen is my strength, I see it a change. I see a ray of hope in it.
