In Kolkata, A Man Had Preserved The Corpse Of His Mother For 3 Years In A Freezer

Imagine if you had to live with a corpse for years in your place of shelter!

Yes, this is exactly what happened at a house in SN Chatterjee Road, Kolkata. On April 5, 2018, a body was discovered in the deep freezer. A 43-year-old man spent three years with the lifeless body of his mother.

Acting on a tip-off, the Kolkata city police uncovered the body, which was mummified for nearly three years and kept in a deep freezer. The corpse has been identified as Bina Mazumdar. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Behala) Nilanjan Biswas stated, “Bina Mazumdar’s body was stored in a refrigerator since 2015. Why her body was stored for three years is being investigated.”

The police officer mentioned that Bina’s son, Subhabrato Mazumdar, has been arrested and was being interrogated. According to the police sources, the lady was 87 and had died due to cardiac arrest.

Bina was a government employee who had retired from the Food Corporation of India as mentioned by the sources. Subhabrato was a student of leather technology and was in the leather supply business. “He had good knowledge of leather technology and chemicals used in it. He had apparently used some chemicals to store the body for three long years,” Biswas said.

The corpse was taken to the morgue for an autopsy. Later, the police mentioned that the body had been stitched in several places from the chest to the belly. It was done probably to take out her decomposed organs so that they wouldn’t stink.

The police is still investigating whether Subhabrato’s sole intention of keeping his mother’s body was just for drawing his mother’s pension by providing her thumb impression and fake live certificates for the past three years or not.
