SSC CGL 2018: An Exam Amid Conspiracy

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has been making headlines for a couple of months. The leak of papers, frequent changes in the SSC exam schedule has caused unrest and agitation amidst aspirants. To sort complexities and come to a final verdict, an inquiry by the CBI has been initiated.

SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level) 2018 – one of the most sought-after SSC exams is approaching, and the official notification for the exam is eagerly awaited. More than 3.5 million aspirants register to appear for the exam every year and base their career on the results of the competitive exam.

This year, amid the unrest and uncertainty the release of official notification which was supposed to be rolled out on 21st April 2018, has been postponed to May 5. SSC CGL 2018 notification will entail the exam schedule, important changes in the exam pattern (if any) and information on the test centres.

The preliminary examination is scheduled from July 25 to August 20, 2018, while the dates for Tier II and III exam are yet to be announced.

Given the popularity and importance of the exam, in terms of aspirants basing their career and future on it, there should be stringent regulations and checks that encourage transparency and fair practices in the current entropy.

About the exam:

SSC CGL exam is conducted every year for recruitment to non-technical Group ‘B’, and Group ‘C’ non-gazetted posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organisations of the Government of India. Every year thousands of vacancies are filled by the examination body in Government departments.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam for recruitment to services like Assistants in Ministries/Departments, Attached and Subordinate office of the Govt. of India, Inspectors of Central Excise & Customs, Inspectors of Income Tax, Preventive Officers in Customs, Examiner in Customs, Sub-Inspectors in Central Bureau of Narcotics & CBI, Assistant Enforcement Officer in Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue, Divisional Accountant, Jr. Accountant, Auditor and UDCs in various offices of Govt. of India, Auditor Offices under C&AG, CGDA, CGA & others, Accountant/ Junior Accountant, Tax Assistant in CBDT and CBEC and Compiler in Registrar General of India.
